2013

Our first report, Create Streets, provoked considerable publicity and discussion in press, with politicians, officials & architects.

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, backed our report on ITN News & 'welcomed' replacing multi-storey blocks with terraced homes.

Broadcast coverage: BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme, BBC TV News & Radio 5 Live, BBC London, LBC Radio, ITV London News, ITV Daybreak, Channel 4 News, many local stations & BBC News Online.

News & comment coverage: The Times, The Telegraph, Harry Mount in The Telegraph, The Guardian, The Independent, The Evening Standard, The Daily Mail, The Daily Express, The Sun.

The Guardian ran a web poll in response which found that 77% supported our proposals.

The New Statesman concluded that our report 'made rather a big splash.’

Our second report, Why aren't we building more streets, kick-started an important debate about what impact regualtions have on our built environment.

'This is another excellent report from Create Streets who are starting to really influence the debate about the future of the built environment in London. GLA Conservatives will be studying these proposals on how to reduce building red tape very carefully. I am sure that the Mayor’s team will be too.' Andrew Boff ALM,  Leader of Conservative Group on the Greater London Authority

'I’m supporting the Create Streets campaign, which seeks to address London’s housing shortage in a way that does not blight our city. Create Streets has shown that terraced streets and low rise flats can be just as effective in housing a dense population as high rise developments. By empowering our communities to redesign their neighbourhoods, we will be better placed to meet the challenges posed by a dramatically expanding population.' Syed Kamall, London MEP
