Our review of the existing plans for the Monkton Heathfield Garden Community set out recommendations to improve the urban design, sustainability and future prosperity of the development. Focusing on the existing ‘Concept Plan’ and ‘Design Guidance’, the report recommendations included humanising the district centre, repurposing the A38 to be a high-quality car-free cycle and pedestrian route and suggesting a mixed rather than zoned approach to the employment areas.
