- An area-based design code for Wychavon District Council in Worcestershire, with independent design codes for multiple geographic areas
Create Streets was asked by Wychavon to review its design strategy to support its ambition to become an ‘exemplar rural council for urban design’ with beautiful new and old towns and streets supporting greater prosperity, sustainability, health and wellbeing. The review led to a decision to create a design code which will set standards for how buildings, streets and public spaces in Wychavon should look and feel, divided into multiple geographic areas to reflect the varied character across the region. The design code is based on the structure of the National Model Design Code and will be one of the first design codes in the country for a district council. Create Streets has also led on consultation for the design code using our Create Communities platform.
