Community co-led, vision and regeneration strategy, Sunderland

‘Phase 1’ Co-design of a new neighbourhood in the heart of Sunderland.
Thanks to support from the Power to Change Fund and working with local charity Back on the Map, we helped to support a group of Sunderland residents and artists to form the ‘Living Arts Hub’ and start co-designing the creation of new homes and workspaces in Sunniside, Sunderland. Our work has evolved into a vision for a whole new neighbourhood in Sunniside, one of high-quality, beautiful and sustainable homes and workshops with facilities that can serve the whole community. Create Streets are supporting the community in taking the ideas forward with developer TOWN to create more detailed designs and delivery plan based on the co-design to make this vision a reality
‘Phase 2’ Since August 2023, we have been working with TOWN to develop plans for 80 new homes on Nile and Villiers Street with a focus on the public realm and landscaping strategy creating beautiful and sustainable new homes on an underused city centre site.
